CDS was founded in mid-1990's by Fidelity National Title who sold the operation to Meadows Asset Management, an $850 million private equity investment group located in Newport Beach, California. Meadows Assest Managment started building their portfolio by owning and operating new and used car dealerships across the country. At one time they were one of the largest car dealer operations in the country with over 100 car dealerships. Their portfolio now includes oil assets (refineries that produce over 15,000 barrels per day, a real estate portfolio consisting of over 2 million sq. feet of office and commercial space, 2,100 acres of land for future residential and commercial development, 2,500 units of rental housing, specialty food processing plants, and various technology companies. Meadows Asset Management has a strong desire to own and operate companies in the auto industry. They co-owned a $50 million auto insurance company located in Southern California, which was sold to AAA (Automobile Club of Southern California) in 2000. CDS Titling is their latest entry in the auto industry.

Since the acquisition from Fidelity National Title, CDS has grown from a locally based auto registration service to a premier nationwide titling and related services organization. CDSTitling has established itself as the leader in providing nationwide titling related services, providing:
a nationwide network of agents to hand-deliver paperwork to any motor vehicle department
centralized form preparation and quality control
online status reporting on all client transactions for continuous visibility and monitoring.
